Questions about Hiring Bikes from Glentress?

Welcome to the Tweed Valley Bike Hire FAQ section! We understand that renting a bike and exploring the trails can raise questions and concerns, so we've compiled a list of frequently asked questions to help make your experience with us as smooth and enjoyable as possible. Whether you're new to mountain biking or a seasoned pro, we hope this section will provide you with all the information you need to make the most of your ride.

Where are you located?

We are located in Glentress Forest, Scotland.

Our location at the start of the trails means we are the perfect base to ride from, pick up some new riding gear or get mid-ride mechanical support.

What types of bikes do you offer for hire?

We offer a range of bikes for hire, including mountain bikes, electric bikes and kids' bikes.

What is included with bike hire?

All bike rentals come with a helmet and a spare tube included in the price (just ask a member of staff when you pick up your bike). We can also provide advice on what gloves, pads, tools and other accessories you might need for a fun day on the trails.

Can I book in advance?

Yes, we recommend booking in advance to ensure availability. You can book online or give us a call.

Do you offer guided tours?

We do not offer guided services, however, we work closely with local companies Dirt School and Ridelines who both provide excellent guiding and coaching days. Find out more here (Link TBC).

Do you provide shuttle services?

A shuttle service runs at Glentress through the summer. Please contact Adrenalin Uplift for more information.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations made at least 24 hours in advance will receive a full refund. Cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance will be charged the full amount.

What is the age limit for hiring a bike?

We believe mountain biking can be enjoyed by the whole family, so we provide a full range of hire bikes suitable for children as small as 1.14m. However, all children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Do you hire trailers/child seats?

No, due to the rough and technical nature of the trails here at Glentress we do not offer bike trailers or child seats for hire.

How much does parking cost at Glentress Forest?

The charges to park at Glentress are:

  • £3 for up to 1 hour
  • £4 for up to 3 hours
  • £6 for all-day
  • £24 for minibus or coach all-day
  • Blue badge holders park free. Please display your Blue Badge clearly.

Where can I find up-to-date information about closures and diversions at Glentress?

Glentress is a working forest, which means at times trails may need to be diverted or altered to ensure that everyone can continue to enjoy the Forest Park safely. Current information can be found on the Forestry and Land Scotland website.

Do you offer half-day or hourly bike rental at Glentress?

We believe in providing the highest quality customer experience on bikes that are well-maintained. For this reason, we have chosen not to offer half-day hire; to ensure that each customer receives a bike that has been cleaned and checked by our trained mechanics, and they can enjoy it for as long as they like.
